Quick Porridge

I think that if I had to live on one basic dish, it would be this porridge. It fills me up better than anything else I have come across, and tastes great with banana and apricots as well. Even better though, when it is the right time of year, is banana and nectarine which is delicious. Serves one. It isn't a very large portion, so if you wish for a more substantial breakfast, you may want to double the amounts. Also, I have called this quick porridge because the porridge itself really doesn't take long at all to make, but if, like me, you like your breakfast to look as well as taste nice, the decoration may take a little longer!

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp porridge oats
  • 4.5-5 tbsp milk

If you want to decorate:

  • 1/2 a banana
  • A handful of raisins or sultanas/5-6 dried apricots / some other type of fruit e.g. 1/2 a nectarine

Method:

1. Sprinkle the oats over the bottom of a bowl

2. Pour the milk into the oats

3. Cook in the microwave for 1 minute

4. Remove from the microwave, cut up the fruit and arrange on top of the porridge

5. Serve warm
