Mango, Banana and Orange Smoothie

This recipe was developed (for once actually by me!) when my family decided that there was too much sugar in shop-bought smoothies. As an alternative, I asked if we could make our own, and here is the result. The quantities and fruits can easily be varied if you so wish, for instance using more orange juice and less water and banana to make it sharper etc. Serves 3-4.

Ingredients:

  •  2 medium sized bananas
  •  about 200g mango - if it isn't the right time of year for fresh mangos, frozen ones work very well too
  •  juice of 4 oranges
  •  about 300g/ml water

Method:

1. Peel and cut up the bananas, cut up the mango (if necessary) and juice the oranges

2. Put all of the ingredients, including the water

3. Whizz up the ingredients until they are smooth
4. Thin with more water if necessary
5. Pour into glasses (if you want to decorate, put a mint leaf or two onto each smoothie) and serve
