Simple Fruit Crumble

This style of crumble has a softer topping, which melts in the mouth when cooked, and tastes delicious. It is also incredible simple to make and the amounts can very easily be adapted to suit more or less people, as you require. This recipe serves 4. Look below the method for good flavour combinations.

Ingredients:

  • 200g plain white flour
  • 100g butter
  • 100g granulated or caster sugar
  • approx. 400g fruit

Method:

1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celsius

 

2. Cut the butter into chunks and rub into the flour using your fingertips or an electric mixer if possible

 

3. Mix in the sugar

 

4. If necessary, cut up/peel/core your fruit and place into a serving dish

 

5. Put about 1cm water into the dish

 

6. Sprinkle the topping over the fruit

 

7. Cook for about 40mins, until the topping is golden brown

 

8. Serve while hot with cream or ice cream

  • Rhubarb, Ginger and Orange (juice and zest)
