Scones

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) of self raising flour - For a more wholemeal scone, use half wholemeal flour
  • 4 ounces (110g) of butter
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar 
  • 150mls milk
  • 150mls natural yoghurt

Method:

 

1. Preheat the oven to 180-200 degrees celsius

 

2.  Mix together the flour and butter, and then add the baking powder, bicarbonate of soda and cream of tartar

 

3. Add the milk and yoghurt and mix until it is a light brown dough

 

4. Sprinkle flour on a surface and roll out the mixture onto it so it is a couple of inches tall

 

5. Using a scone cutter if possible, cut out as many scones as you can, putting them on a baker-glide covered tray before rolling the mixture together in the middle and spreading it out again. Keep on doing this until there is no mixture left

 

6. Put them in the oven for 8-10 minutes before checking
